At the 10th December the 9th and last edition for 2011 of Cellartales International WineRoundTable took place at the Lebanese Restaurant “Hanul lui Manuc” in the old center of Bukarest. A splendid place with warm and welcoming people. Chef Mohammed and the crew spoiled us once more with excellent, indigenous food, perfect service and also a closer look into the kitchen. Thanks a lot for that folks ! Who thought that spicy, oriental food is a difficult counterpart for wine was disabused today. First we intended to have a special dish for every wine but the Chef told .....


Better late than never ! The “International WineRoundTable Edition No.7” is already in the planning stage and I haven’t closed so far the last one … Well, we have been extremely busy lately (that’s a good thing) and therefore I let slight a little bit CellarTales and a lot of interesting wines lined up (that’s a bad thing). But I will do my very best to compensate the lost time. So, what we have had for our “International WineRoundTable Edition No.6” ? A very colored tasting with ups and downs, surprises and disappointments and a lot of different .....

An “Imperial” annual closure …

Finally, so to say on the last day of 2010 we managed to bring enough gourme(n)ts together “to kill” a big bottle which has been since longer time on my radar screen. Of course we have had also a marvellous dinner next to this and as I always say – every good cook needs inspiration. So we got ours from a very nice, traditional Claret and last but not least we learned, that a good year for reds doesn’t necessarily mean a good vintage for whites as well …

I think all of you experienced at least one time the mood „ I would like to have something to eat but I don’t know what”. Especially when you are drinking a wine.
I’ve been also recently in this mood, and my thoughts flew away to the nice vacation we’ve had in Spain, staying in a beautiful old village near the Rioja region. And of course, to the Spanish food. Knowing already some (very good) white wines (vintage 1987, 1989, 1990) of Heredia, I have been more than just curious, how this one would be. The birthday of a good friend has been more than a welcome reason to find it out. Are old wines like this really still drinkable or even a pleasure ? In one of my earlier posts I already predicted for the 89er a big potential for a couple of decades more. Knowing this wine now, I want to reinforce that statement.
