Yes, Cuvee Charlotte 2003. It is one of those moments when you feel that you have a revelation, that The Thing is going to happen, and it is happening the way you’ve been expecting it. It’s one of those wines known even by wine ignorants. Like Rioja .....

DAVINO Feteasca Neagra 2004

In the end a Feteasca Neagra 2004 from DAVINO with a very intense ruby to garnet red colour, slightly opalescent. The mature nose shows a lot of dark forest fruits, licorice and some hints of new leather. At the palate you can find distinct scents of dried plumbs, a very pronounced dark chocolate flavour, vanilla, blackberries and cigar box (tobbacco). Being round and smooth in the mouth, the wine seemed in the beginning a little bit sweaty. But this problem vanished after some time. Its fine tannins and acidity are giving a solid structure and noble elegance until the .....

Casa Davino Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Classe 2002

After 2-3 days of decanting in the bottle, the wine shows a fine-grained depot and a nice, deep ruby-red and very healthy colour. Its nose needs some aeritation to offer you its interesting flavours of dark fruits like cassis, blackthorne, black-berries and some “smoked” red paprika. Lactical notes like butter and scents of leather are smoothening the bouquet. Fine tannins and a still lively acidity are giving this wine structure and still some more potential for further ageing. All in all a very nice aged Cabernet and a brilliant companion for food.

A strong and ripe colour with a beginning brown margins. In the nose – fresh meat, black pepper and some cassis emphasized by a delicate tobacco and cacao scent. At the palate, at the beginning, a soft, sour, horse stable taste but with healthy and fine grained tannins. Unfortunately, even after several hours, a pretty short aftertaste. The wine doesn’t want to show everything. I know it much better, but perhaps it’s actually closed and blocked.

Villa Zorilor Swallowtail 2001

A deep and clear ruby-red. In the beginning a little bit sweaty but this is disappearing after some time of breathing. Then the wine develops a warm and earthy character. Ripe, like plums and some cigar box in company with dark chocolate and mocha. The fine chased acidity and rangy tannins a building up a good pressure at the palate until the medium length finish. The wine seems in the beginning still pretty compact and needs therefore some time in the glasses but nonetheless it is already a really fine wine experience.

A bright vermillion color with a soft brown woof. Plumps, some cinnamon, vanilla and blackberries are dominating in the beginning the nose but with some time it’s becoming weaker and then we can find also here a sort of a metallic sensation. Its good acidity and fine tannins build a contrast to the quite lank body and the short finish without being able to mask it. The sweetness originates probably from the high amount of alcohol. This is a good example of a wine out of a hot year, made with overripe grapes which are not automatically assuring a long .....
